Winter Safety Tips for Business Customers
Safety is one of the core operating values at Millennium Waste Incorporated and with good reason – waste collection is a dangerous profession and disregarding basic safety can lead to driver, or even customer, injury.
With freezing temperatures, slippery roads, and obstructed visibility, winter is an especially challenging time for customers and collection drivers. This winter, we ask our business customers to follow these simple guidelines to receive the best, and safest, collection services.
Access is key. Please keep the parking area/collection area free of ice and snow. Collection trucks need space and visibility to operate and ice and limited vision can make collections hazardous. Parked vehicles, snow piles can make collection efforts difficult or, worse, impossible.
Keep the enclosure accessible. The freeze/thaw cycle of a typical winter day can create challenges with gates and pin closure systems as snow that melts during the day can freeze and make enclosure access difficult. If your front-load container is in an enclosed area, please use salt or ice remover to keep it easily accessible.
Maintain the container. Waste container lids must be kept closed to prevent snow and rain from freezing in the container and creating a dangerous ice block.
Bag it. All items in a container should be bagged to prevent freezing and items sticking to the container when it’s emptied.
Our goal is to provide safe and efficient waste removal services. Following these simple guidelines will help us meet that goal and continue to provide our construction and commercial customers the best service possible.
Millennium Waste Incorporated is the Quad Cities leading waste management company providing reliable and friendly commercial, construction, industrial and residential waste collection and landfill services. We take pride in servicing our area and are committed to keeping our community cleaner, safer, and stronger.
